Dr. Ng Yi Kang

Dr Ng Yi Kang is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with clinical interests in disorders of gut-brain interaction, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, and advanced gastrointestinal physiology testing. He is experienced in the management of a wide spectrum of digestive and liver conditions, with a practice focused on evidence-based and patient-centred care.
Dr Ng graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2010, and subsequently completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology under the SingHealth Residency Programme. He trained and worked across several major public healthcare institutions in Singapore, including Singapore General Hospital, Changi General Hospital, and Sengkang General Hospital.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr Ng served as Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Sengkang General Hospital, where he was the clinical lead for disorders of gut brain interactions and GI motility testing. During his tenure, he played a key role in introducing advanced oesophageal diagnostic services, including 96-hour wireless oesophageal pH monitoring (Bravo capsule), to enhance the evaluation and management of reflux-related disorders.
Dr Ng has extensive experience in gastroscopy and colonoscopy, including colorectal cancer screening, polyp detection and removal, and therapeutic endoscopy. He also has expertise in the assessment of complex oesophageal and disorders of gut-brain interactions using advanced diagnostic modalities such as wireless pH studies, oesophageal manometry, and capsule endoscopy.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Ng is actively involved in medical education and professional development. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Medical School and has been involved in the teaching and mentorship of medical students, junior doctors, and residents. He has also contributed to quality improvement and clinical research initiatives within SingHealth, particularly in the areas of gastrointestinal motility and endoscopy quality.
Dr Ng has received multiple awards for clinical service and quality improvement, including the SingHealth Quality Service Gold Award in 2023 and 2024. He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and London.
Outside of medicine, Dr Ng has a keen interest in endurance sports and competitive cycling, having completed multiple Ironman 70.3 triathlons and won the 2022 OCBC National Masters Individual Time Trial Domestic Championship.
